Chris Ferguson -Chris likes pocket pairs, especially if he can get heads up with another player. As such he took his nines and added two grand to Doyle’s raise, making it $2,900 to go.
Doyle - Doyle could have called and seen the flop, and then tried to get all of Chris’ money. The thing is, he isn’t the Godfather of Poker for no reason -- he knows how to play a fellow like Chris.

He had a feeling Chris was already committed to his hand, and so he moved all in right then and there.
